Staff Profile

Dr Zhivko Zhelev

Research Fellow

Kath Maguire

My background is clinical psychology and systemic family therapy and my PhD thesis was on disability discourses in modern Bulgarian society. Since I joined Peninsula Technology Assessment Group (PenTAG) in 2010, my main interest has been the methodology of systematic reviews of diagnostic test accuracy studies and the communication of their results to healthcare professionals. Within PenCLAHRC, I am involved in the Cardiac Reviews of Tests and Training (CARoTT) project which, in collaboration with the Peninsula Heart and Stroke Network, aims to develop the research capacity of PenTAG by conducting a series of diagnostic test accuracy reviews on tests used in the diagnosis of cardiac conditions such as acute coronary syndrome. I’m leading on two systematic reviews concerning the diagnostic accuracy of computed tomography and highly sensitive troponin in the diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome. My main interests lie in the methodology of diagnostic test accuracy reviews and qualitative research methods.
