Dr Gretchen Bjornstad

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Kath Maguire

I joined PenCRU, a childhood disability research unit within PenCLAHRC, in February 2017 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. All of the research conducted at PenCRU is done in collaboration with a Family Faculty, which is involved at every stage. I am currently working on writing plain language evidence summaries in response to questions submitted by parents of children with disabilities and practitioners who work with them. I am also working on the development and evaluation of an intervention to improve the health and wellbeing of parent carers of children with disabilities.

Prior to this my work has been focused on the evaluation of interventions for reducing emotional and behavioural problems in children. I specialise in trials and systematic reviews of interventions. I also have experience working with children in residential treatment settings and as a family counsellor.
