Cate Atkins

MindTheGap Research Associate and Senior Information Analyst, Devon Partnership NHS Trust

Kath Maguire

I am employed on a joint project between Devon Partnership NHS Trust and Penchord. The MindTheGap project aims to develop a clear framework and set of recommendations to improve communications and the transfer of information between decision makers (e.g. senior levels of NHS management) and analysts within the health care system.

It will address issues of skills development within the NHS analytical community, develop and evaluate communication tools such as information visualisation methods, and assess the value of agreed standards for the communication and use of analysis at all levels.

Initial activity is focusing on understanding the current situation in this context using a variety of methods to survey the landscape across multiple health service organisations. In-depth analysis will then draw on specific examples of analytical support for decision making at the lead organisation – Devon Partnership Trust (DPT) - and also examine ideas of quality and healthcare outcomes in this context.
