Kath Maguire

Having worked clinically as a physiotherapist in the NHS for the last 12 years, I have now entered into full time education to undertake a PhD. My clinical experience involves working in both acute and primary care settings, primarily within elderly rehabilitation.

While working in a variety of different settings, I developed an interest in the physiotherapy treatment for people with hip fracture and how this rehabilitation varies according to other co-morbidities. In particular the rehabilitation of people with dementia who fracture their hip. The apparent paucity of evidence to support physiotherapy interventions for this population has led me to undertake a PhD aimed at exploring and developing a complex intervention to improve their management.
