IDEAL COVID-19 Dementia Initiative
IDEAL: Improving the Experience of Dementia and Enhancing Active Life
The IDEAL Project, led by PenARC’s Dementia theme lead Professor Linda Clare has produced a leaflet with five key messages about how people living with dementia can stay well during the coronavirus outbreak.
The initiative focuses on how to support people with dementia living in the community and their family carers and help manage the psychological and social impacts of social distancing, self-isolation and lockdown during the outbreak.

The IDEAL programme is led by REACH at the University of Exeter. The leaflet was produced as a result of a project led by the University of Exeter and the NIHR Older People and Frailty Policy Research Unit, with partners including PenARC, Alzheimer’s Society, Manchester University, Bradford University and Brunel University London.

- Advice leaflets in English and Welsh for people with dementia and carers of people with dementia
- The leaflets have also been adapted and translated by the Race Equality Foundation into Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Gujarati, Kurdish, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, and Somali.
