There are a variety of routes through which research questions become projects, but our adoption processes have the same three key aims:   

  • Conduct patient-focused research reflecting the needs of the public and the NHS
  • Support evidence-based service change for the benefit of patients and the public
  • Build capacity within the local health economy to generate and effectively use the results of research

Development of an Integrated Psychological Medicine Service

Common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression are common among people passing through the general hospital and are associated with increase emotional distress, worse quality of life, worse medical outcomes and greater healthcare costs. The aim of this project is to greatly improve the level of psychological care provided alongside traditional medical and surgical care for patients attending the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
