PenCLAHRC Research Prioritisation 2015

Following a round of electronic voting on a long list of 68 questions, PenCLAHRC's partner organisations met on 14th December 2015 to consider and rank a shortlist of 10 questions.

You can read more about each of the questions considered at this meeting in the Priority Briefings.

From this meeting, it has been provisionally agreed that PenCLAHRC will dedicate resources to test the feasibility of the top two ranked questions:

  • How can we best design, evaluate and implement a group-based programme for weight-management in Tier 3 obesity care? View project page

  • Is mindfulness based cognitive behaviour therapy effective in maintaining recovery and relapse prevention among young people who have recovered from an episode of emotional disorder? View project page

Other questions discussed at the voting meeting on the topics of care homes and intermediate care have potential links to existing PenCLAHRC work. Although there is currently not sufficient resource to take these topics forward as independent pieces of work, our teams working in these areas will be asked to consider accommodating these within their existing work.

PenCLAHRC staff will now spend some time collating the available evidence for each of the top two ranked questions, with an Academic Lead and Research Manager assigned for each. One of the first priorities for each team will be to bring together integral and interested stakeholders from across the collaboration in order to start developing the question further.
