Key tasks associated with this role include appraisal and, on occasion, development of network meta-analyses; appraisal of statistical methods used in clinical trials; and working alongside health economists and economic modellers to develop and refine statistical inputs to economic models, especially where these inputs draw on survival analysis and related methods. In due course, you will be supported to undertake project management of HTAs alongside senior postholders in PenTAG.
You will have a key role to play in joining and developing grants and publications relating to HTA across a range of topics, both clinically oriented and public health-oriented. Supported by senior postholders in PenTAG, you will develop an independent profile of publications in medical statistics and HTA. If you do not have a PhD, these publications will potentially form the basis of a PhD by publication.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or be nearing completing for Postdoctoral Research Associate level) or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required.

The post holder will also contribute to teaching introductory statistics to undergraduate medical students on the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) course and students on the Medical Sciences BSc.
Applicants will be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. They will be able to undertake statistical analyses and have statistical computing skills (using Stata, R or other major statistical package).
